Life is hard – really hard.

We all have times in our live when we feel that we are alone.  We may not lose faith that He lives – or that He cares for others; but we lose hope that He cares for us.  Others may be important; just not me.  Such feelings may be fleeting; or they may endure for hours, days, weeks, months, or even years.

It was during a time when I was contemplating this, that I wrote the following.  If you, or another, is feeling such hopelessness, please share: you are not alone; you are never alone.  Only One was truly ever alone; and He trod that winepress in His loneliness so that we do not have to – even though it may feel otherwise.  How I long for the day, when His ever-present grace is revealed; when I see just how much I have meant to Him.  Although it doesn’t always seem like it during this life, that day will come for me; and it will come for you.

Pleadings

.

My soul is lost; I wander.

.

The wilderness that is life

Has surpassed my strength; defeated me

.

The dull ache envelopes my heart:

Unrelenting; untiring with its grasp.

.

I once pled for mercy;

For relief from daily pains.

.

But heaven’s doors were closed;

It’s curtains drawn, no light leaking to my succour.

.

I see Him rescue souls around me;

Once wondered why no mercy was shown to me.

.

Now I know:

.

All souls are valued, but mine

All those who try are worthy, but me

All who are alone are noticed, but me

All children are loved, but me.

.

I am destined to carry the aching emptiness of my soul

Throughout my life; unending through eternity.

.

Too numb for tears,

And beyond sorrow.

.

………

.

I wander; seeking the lost; finding each one

.

The wilderness, that is mortality’s test

Surpasses all; but Me

.

Your heart’s ache once blanketed Mine;

Hell’s depths swallowing Me; for your sake.

.

Mercy’s pleas ever heard

My tears of blood unfailing.

.

Celestial light hides not;

Nor is it covered.

.

Wings of grace hover in protective love

Ever there; though rarely seen.

.

Please know:

.

All souls are valued: in your emptiness, especially yours

All are worthy: in your weakness, especially you

All are noticed: in your loneliness, especially you

All are loved: in your pain, especially you.

.

Your courage to continue life’s journey is seen above

Though you believe your offering meagre; it is all you have; Heaven’s reward, all I have.

.

If you are too worn for tears; I will weep for you

If too battered for sorrow; I will bear it in your place.

.

Though you feel not My strength, it is sufficient

Though reminders of eternity bring you no comfort; know, My child, that peace will fill your soul.

.

They are the scars in My hands that will hold you in that day;

When tears of joy will streak our faces.

.

And you will know only then that I have ever been present.

.

  1. Very nice post Jeff. The poem touched my heart. Our God is great indeed, and part of that greatness is that He never leaves us alone. We may feel that way, but God is there. I love how you expressed God’s love especially with these words, “If you are too worn for tears; I will weep for you If too battered for sorrow; I will bear it in your place.”

    I pray God will continue to bless you and your work and writing.

    • Thank you for your kind words. I think mot of us have times when we truly feel alone; and that we will be surprised when we get to the next life and discover that it wasn’t so, that He never left our side.

  2. I want to tell you something but not sure what it is. I recognize the pain you described. Don’t live like that most days now but did for a long time. Thanks for your expressions.
